Zhaklina is an Independent, Alternative-Soul artist from New York. She moved to Nashville in January, 2018. Her passion for music started as a child and grew as she poured her heart into chamber choirs, musical theatre, and a cappella groups throughout her life. She found her passion for writing in middle school when she was asked to write a short fiction-based story about romance and adventure. She fell in love with literature, poetry, and story-telling. This soon turned into songwriting as she began to express herself through music and writing in her teenage years. After graduating college, Zhaklina tied for first place in the 2015 "The Audition" singing competition with Hudson Valley, NY radio station K104.7. She went on to perform at KFEST that year, met several record executives and gained the confidence to pursue her dream of making music her career at age 23. Since then, Zhaklina has spent a lot of time developing herself as an artist as well as her craft. Feeling as though her genre was difficult to put into one category, she decided to label her music as "alternative-soul." "Alternative" represents a conglomerate of styles including rock, hip-hop, and pop. "Soul" represents the style of her writing- she is passionate about writing music that involves story-telling and faith-based messages to inspire listeners on a spiritual level. After spending time developing her craft, Zhaklina decided to take a two month road trip around the country in the fall of 2017 to find the right place to begin building a foundation for her career. After checking out cities like New York, Denver, Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles, she landed upon Nashville. Although she is not a country artist, she chose to move to Nashville because she thought it was the best place to grow as not only an artist but also a songwriter. With a large spiritual community and all kinds of support within the music community, she felt Nashville was the right place to plant herself. Since moving down, she has been working very hard on a concept album that is set to release in a series of EP's with the first one coming out in the beginning of 2019. She is looking forward to sharing her work with the world and growing in the music industry.
